About Psg College Of Technology – Education in Coimbatore
This part of PSG is over in Nilambur, Coimbatore, specifically the Metallurgy and Foundry Division. It’s got a very different feel compared to a standard classroom building. Since it’s a foundry campus, there’s a lot of industrial stuff around—machines, heavy equipment, and the smell of metalwork. It’s a bit gritty, but that’s the nature of the work we do here. The campus belongs to the PSG & Sons Charities, so there’s a lot of history behind these walls. We’ve got students who are learning the practical side of engineering, getting their hands dirty in the workshops. It gets pretty hot in Coimbatore, and inside the foundry areas, it’s even warmer. We don't have air-conditioned hallways; we have large open sheds and functional workspaces. Most of the staff here have been working with metal for decades. A lot of time is spent maintaining the equipment and making sure the students don't hurt themselves. It’s a busy, noisy place where something is always being cast or tested. There’s a lot of movement, with trucks coming in and out. We aren't interested in being fancy. The focus is on the metal and the machines. It’s a practical, no-nonsense environment where the work speaks for itself. We just show up, do the job, and help the next generation learn how things are actually made. It's tough work but someone has to do it.
