Pavithra Knit Overseas

Down at 56, Valliammai Nagar, you’ll find us working away on 3rd Street. We are just off Kangayam Road, which is always busy with people going back and forth. Pavithra Knit Overseas is a busy place, especially when we have a big shipment of knits to get through. The floors are concrete and have some cracks from moving the heavy crates around, but it works for what we do. We don't have a sign that glows or anything, just the address on the wall. Inside, it’s mostly the sound of the machines and people talking over the hum to get things done. We keep the windows open when it’s not too dusty outside to let some air in. The street outside is narrow, so it’s a bit of a squeeze when the delivery vans come to pick up the finished goods. We spend our mornings checking the fabric and making sure the colors match up with what was asked for. It’s a lot of standing and moving around, so we all wear comfortable shoes. By the time evening rolls around, the place is usually a bit of a mess with scraps and thread everywhere, but we tidy up before heading home. It is a plain, honest workspace where we just try to get the work finished on time every day. Sometimes we have a quick snack of biscuits and tea when the afternoon gets long.
