Niraj Garments

It's hot here in Tirupur today. We are at 31 Ranganathapuram 4th Street. Kongu Main Road is usually busy with all kinds of traffic. Niraj Garments is just a regular spot where we get things done. People come in and out all day long. We handle the machines and the fabric piles up in the corners. It gets dusty but that's just part of the job. Some days are slower than others and we just sit around. We drink tea twice a day from the small stall nearby. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to wait it out. My uncle started this a long time ago. Now I spend most of my time checking the stitching on the shirts. We use cotton mostly because that's what we have available here. It's not a fancy place at all. Just a workspace with big tables and sewing needles. If you walk down the 4th street you'll see our sign hanging there. It's a bit faded from the sun now. The neighbors are mostly in the same textile business as us. We talk about the weather or the price of thread over the fence. Most of the staff live close by and just walk to work every morning. We don't have big meetings or anything like that. Just work until the evening comes. Then we lock up the shutters and go home. The noise from the road never really stops. It is just a normal life here.
