Mrk Travels

Mrk Travels is over in Gandhipuram, at No 432 on the 6th Street Extension. This part of Salem is quite crowded with lots of small streets and shops tucked away. Our place is in the extension area, so it's a bit of a mix of houses and businesses. The pin code is 641012. We have a small office where we handle all the travel bookings. It’s not on the very main road, so it’s a tiny bit quieter than some other spots, but only just. There are always scooters and bikes zooming past the front door. Inside, we have some files and a landline phone that rings a lot. The walls have some old posters on them. We spend our time talking to customers and making sure the cars are clean and ready. Sometimes the street gets blocked if a big truck comes through, which is just how it is in Gandhipuram. We know most of the people who live on this street. It’s a tight space, but we make it work. Every morning we open the shutters and get the fans going. It’s a regular job, nothing special about it. We just focus on the daily trips and making sure everything is written down in our ledger. It feels like a very local way of doing things. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us here making sure things run like they should every day of the week.
