Located at No.12/20 in Kk Salaimathiyalagan Nagar, our small office is where we spend most of our daylight hours. It isn't a large building, just a couple of rooms where we manage the chit funds. The street outside is usually quiet enough, which helps when we are trying to focus on the accounts. We started this place because we wanted to work in our own neighborhood. There isn’t any corporate lobby or receptionists in suits here. You just walk in and talk to whoever is sitting at the front desk. Sometimes we get behind on filing, and there are stacks of paper everywhere, but we eventually get through them. The desks are a bit scratched up from years of use. We have a small kettle in the back for making coffee when the morning gets long. Dealing with money and people’s savings means we have to be careful with the entries. We use local pens and simple registers. Most of our day is just talking to neighbors who stop by to pay their monthly dues or ask a question about their group. It’s a simple life and a simple business. We don’t have fancy signs or big advertisements. People mostly find us through word of mouth or because they live nearby in Salaimathiyalagan Nagar. It works for us and the people who come here. We often stay open a little late on Fridays just to finish up the week's ledger entries.
