L.G. Balakrishnan & Bros. Ltd.

Down here on Krisnarayapuram Road in Ganapathy, things stay busy from Monday to Saturday. L.G. Balakrishnan & Bros. Ltd. has been part of this neighborhood for a while now. You can usually hear the hum of the machines before you even get to the gate. It’s one of those areas where everyone knows everyone else’s business, which is alright. The traffic on the road can get pretty bad during the morning shift change, so most of us try to get in a bit early just to avoid the mess. Inside, it’s all about the metal and the parts we’re putting together. It’s a big space but it feels small once you get all the equipment and the staff in there. We don't really have a lot of visitors, mostly just the suppliers and the occasional inspector walking through. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but nobody really cares about that as long as the machines are running smooth. We spend a lot of time just making sure the schedules are met. It’s a lot of physical work, and by the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired. We just lock up, head home, and do it all again the next morning. It’s a solid way to make a living and we’re used to the noise by now. Even the stray dogs near the entrance seem to know the schedule.
