Out here in Semmipalayam Village, things move at a slightly different pace than in the big cities. We’re located right on Trichy Road, which sees a lot of truck traffic heading through Palladum. Our facility in Perumpali is where all the textile work happens. You can hear the hum of the machines from the gate. It’s a dusty area, especially in the summer, so we’re always cleaning the windows to keep the light coming in. Most of the folks working here are from the nearby villages and have been with us for years. We deal with rolls of fabric and medical-grade materials every day, so there’s always a bit of lint in the air. The warehouse part of the building is usually stacked high with finished goods waiting to be loaded onto the next transport. It’s not a glamorous job, just honest work with looms and packing crates. We keep a small office in the front where the paperwork gets sorted, though it’s often buried under samples of bandages or gauze. Lunch is usually a communal affair under the shade when it’s too hot inside. We don't have fancy brochures; we just focus on making sure the weave is right and the shipments go out on time. The road outside is bumpy, but it leads right to where we need to be. We’ve stayed in this village because the community here knows the craft well, and that matters more than being in a fancy city center.
