Our place is out in Ayyampalikadu, which is part of the Pachanampatty area in Omalur. Being in the Salem district of Tamil Nadu, it gets quite warm during the day, especially in the summer months when the sun is directly overhead. We are not located in a big city skyscraper; instead, we are tucked away in a spot that feels much more rural and quiet. You have to drive through some narrow roads to get to us, and sometimes you might see a tractor or a few goats blocking the way. The office at Keas Control Systems isn’t anything too elaborate. It is a functional space where we handle all our paperwork and the technical bits of the job. Most of the staff comes from the nearby villages, so there is a very local feel to how we operate every day. We don’t have a fancy canteen on the premises, so we usually bring our tiffins from home and eat together in the small break area near the back. Sometimes the heavy rain in the monsoon season makes the roads a bit muddy, but we manage to get in. People here know each other well, and we don’t really use a lot of formal titles when we talk to one another. It is just about getting the daily jobs done and making sure everything runs the way it’s supposed to. We focus on our work and try to keep things simple and honest.
