Kavin Kart

Kavin Kart is situated on New Scheme Road in Pollachi. We are right opposite the Gowri Krishna Hotel, which makes it easy to explain our location to anyone. Being on New Scheme Road twice—as the address says—means we are really in the heart of that area. The shop is a straightforward place where we keep various household goods. We aren't trying to be a big department store or anything. It’s just a small business we’ve built up over the years. The space inside is quite tight because we try to stock as much as we can fit. You’ll usually find me sitting near the counter checking through the daily invoices. We have a couple of local guys who help us with the heavy lifting and deliveries. The hotel across the way brings in a lot of people, so it’s never really quiet around here. When the monsoon hits Pollachi, the rain really comes down hard on this street. We have to be careful with the stock then. It’s a lot of work keeping everything dry and the floor clean. We don't have any corporate slogans or big promises. We just open up in the morning and help whoever walks through the door. Sometimes we have a long chat with the neighbors while we sweep the front steps. It’s a decent life. We’ve gotten to know the regular drivers and the people living nearby.
