Ever D

Our place, Ever D, is Shop Number 51/6, right across from the temple on Mariyappan Konar Street. Being opposite the temple means we hear the bells and the morning prayers every day, which is a nice way to start work. We deal with various items, mostly things that the local people need on a daily basis. The street can get pretty busy during festival times, so we have to be ready for the extra people. We mostly spend our time arranging stock on the shelves and helping whoever walks in. It’s a basic setup. We have some stools where we sit when things are quiet. We’ve known most of our customers for years because they live just around the corner. It’s a very local feel here. We don't use fancy computers for everything; we still do a lot of things by hand and with simple notebooks. The building is older, but it serves its purpose. We try to keep the front area clean, though the dust from the street always seems to find its way in. It's just part of working in this neighborhood. We don't have a big sign or anything flashy, just the shop number and the name. People know we are here if they need anything. It’s a quiet life most of the time, and we like it that way. We just keep at it every day, year after year. It works out.
