You can find us at No. 70/71 on Vivekananda Road in Ramnagar. It’s a busy street and we’ve been part of it for a good while. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of hardware items. It might look a bit messy to someone walking in for the first time, but we know exactly which drawer holds which size of screw. We spend most of our time climbing ladders or moving boxes of tools around. Ramnagar has a lot of people moving through it, so there is always someone coming in looking for a specific bolt or a hinge. We don’t do any of that big corporate branding stuff. We just open up early and stay until the evening. The air inside the shop smells like metal and cardboard. There’s a ceiling fan that’s been wobbling for years, but it keeps the air moving. We talk to the regulars about the weather or the local news while we hunt for what they need. It’s a small operation, just a couple of us handling the counter and the stock. We don’t have a website or a fancy catalog, we just know what’s on the shelves. Sometimes we run out of something and have to wait for the next delivery truck to squeeze through the traffic on Vivekananda Road. It’s just how things are here.
