K. Swaminatha Chettiar

Our place is at 1108, B14, on Bazaar Street. If you know this street, you know how loud and crowded it gets. There are carts moving, people shouting, and the constant sound of the market. We have been here for a long time. The name on the board is K. Swaminatha Chettiar, which is a name many people around here recognize. We deal with whatever needs doing in a busy bazaar setting. The shop is old. The wooden counters have been worn down by years of use. We don't have fancy lights or air conditioning. It can get very stuffy in the summer months. We just open the doors early in the morning and stay until the market starts to quiet down in the evening. There is a lot of paperwork involved, mostly handwritten notes and old ledgers. We don't use computers much because the old way works fine for us. Customers come in, we talk about the weather or the local news, and then we get to business. It is a very straightforward way of living. We see the same faces every day, which is nice. Bazaar Street is our home, and the shop is just part of the landscape now. We don't try to change things too much. We just keep the shelves stocked and the floors swept as best as we can. It is just honest work done day after day.
