Junior Engineer Ppc - Shanthi Gears Ltd

My name is V. Shanmugam and I run Junior Engineer Ppc. We are connected with the work for Shanthi Gears Ltd and our place is at 2/27, South Street. This is in Kangayampalayam, which is a part of Coimbatore. It’s a busy industrial area, but our street is a bit more tucked away. I’ve been working in engineering for many years and this small shop is where I spend most of my time. It is not a large factory. It is just a modest building where we handle planning and parts. The walls have calendars and old charts pinned to them. I usually have a helper with me, but most of the technical stuff I look at myself. The air in Coimbatore can get a bit dusty with all the manufacturing around, so we are always cleaning our surfaces. We don’t have any corporate slogans or a marketing department. We just have our tools and our experience. People come to us because they know we are right here on South Street and we won't give them a hard time. Work starts early in the morning before it gets too hot. We take a lunch break at the local stall and then come back to finish the day. It is a steady way of living. We don't try to be anything we aren't. We are just local workers handling the engineering side of things for the gears industry.
