Jayabalan Clinic

Jayabalan Clinic is situated at 51-2 on Avinashi Road, right near the Police Quarters in Uppilipalayam. Being so close to the quarters, we see a lot of officers and their families coming through the door. Avinashi Road is always packed with cars and trucks, so the front of the clinic can get a bit dusty from the road. We have a small porch area where people sometimes wait if the inside is full. The clinic itself is quite old-fashioned with high ceilings and heavy wooden doors. We have a tiny room for consultations and another one where we keep the medicine and basic supplies. It is a small operation, mostly just the doctor and one or two helpers. We do not have any of those electronic calling systems, so we just stick our heads out and call the next person’s name. The neighborhood of Uppilipalayam is a busy place, and we are right in the thick of it. Sometimes we have to shout over the sound of the traffic when talking to patients. We usually have the radio playing softly in the background to help drown out the street noise. It is a very basic clinic, nothing special to look at, but we have been here a long time and the locals know where to find us. We open early and stay until the last patient is seen, which is sometimes quite late in the evening when the street finally calms down.
