Our place is out at No. 268 in Vathiyar Thottam. It’s a bit of a drive out to the K. Vadamadurai post area, near Thudialur, but it’s where we have the space for all the greens and the pots. We spend most of our mornings watering and checking on the leaves for any pests. It gets quite hot under the sun, so we try to get the heavy work done before noon rolls around. We handle a lot of different plants here. Some are for big office buildings and some are just for people’s backyards or balconies. It's not a tidy office job at all. We usually have mud on our boots and dirt under our fingernails by the time we head home in the evening. The local guys know us well because we've been here for years. We’ve been at this spot for a while, watching things grow and change with the seasons. Sometimes the rains make the path a bit tricky for the trucks, but the plants love the extra water. We keep track of everything in a big ledger on the desk. It’s quiet out here compared to the city center, which is nice for the soul. People come by asking for advice on why their ferns are turning brown, and we just tell them what we know from years of experience. There’s no big secret to it, just enough water and the right amount of shade for each one.
