First Textile India

First Textile India is based at 62 and 62A on Papanaikapalayam Road. Having two sections of the building means we are always running back and forth across the little gap between them. It’s a busy road out front, so there is a constant soundtrack of horns and engines while we work. Inside, it’s a bit more focused, with rows of tables where we inspect the textiles. The light isn't the best in the back of 62A, so we have some extra lamps set up so we can see the threads clearly. We don't have a marketing team or anyone to make the place look pretty for photos. It’s just a workspace with a lot of dust and some old wooden cupboards for the ledgers. We usually have a bit of a laugh during the lunch break when we sit out on the back steps. The work can be repetitive, checking the same patterns over and over, but it’s what pays the bills. Sometimes the delivery schedule gets a bit chaotic, and we have to stay late to get everything sorted, but we don't mind too much as long as the work gets done. It’s a simple setup, and we’ve stayed here because it’s convenient for the workers and the suppliers. We just keep our heads down and handle the cloth. It keeps us out of trouble.
