Chandra Minerals

Out here at 1-36 in Andi Kaadu Thottam, things are a bit different than in the city. We are in Nochipalayam, which is part of the Karaipudur Village area in Palladam Taluk. It’s mostly fields and open space around us, which is good for the kind of mineral work we do. The wind blows pretty hard across the open ground, sometimes making it hard to keep the site clean. We spend our time managing the loads of minerals that come from the nearby quarries. There is always a tractor or a lorry parked somewhere near the gate waiting to be weighed. The staff mostly comes from the village, so everyone knows each other’s business. We have a small shed where we keep the tools and the ledgers. It gets quite loud when the processing starts, but we’re used to it. Palladam can be very dry, so we have to keep a big water tank filled up for everyone to drink from throughout the day. We don’t have a lot of visitors unless it’s a driver or someone checking on the supplies. The paperwork is always a bit behind because we’re usually outside working rather than sitting at a desk. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here, but it’s a solid place to work. We just keep our heads down and get the minerals moved to where they need to go next.
