The Trend

You’ll find The Trend out at 7/167 in Andakkapalayam, near the Bellanaipatti Post. We are quite close to the Trishul Konkrit plant, so we see a lot of the workers and trucks passing by every day. It’s a bit out of the way compared to the city center, but we like the space we have here. The shop is a simple brick building that we’ve made our own. There’s a lot of dust from the concrete plant, so we are constantly wiping down the counters and the displays. My day usually starts by checking the mail at the post office and then heading over to open up. We have a small porch where I sometimes sit in the morning before the first customers arrive. The selection we have is based on what people around here actually need. We don't bother with things that are too flashy or impractical. Most of our days are spent chatting with the regulars who live in the nearby villages. It’s a slow pace of life, and we don't try to rush anything. The fan in the corner makes a rhythmic tapping sound that I’ve stopped noticing. Sometimes, when it rains, the road gets a bit muddy and things slow down even more. We just take it as it comes. It’s a honest living and we are happy to be part of the landscape here in Bellanaipatti. It’s just us doing our bit on the edge of town.
