Akshay Cadd Centre

We’re located in Tristar Tower, occupying the space from 655 to 662. It’s a bit of a walk up if the lift is acting up, which happens sometimes. Inside, it’s mostly computers and desks. It’s a lot quieter than the industrial units downstairs because everyone is usually staring at their screens. We spend most of the day working on drawings and technical designs. Sometimes the software can be a bit slow, but we’ve learned to be patient with it. There’s a small corner for making tea and coffee, which is where most of us end up when we need a break from the monitors. The walls are mostly bare except for a few old calendars and some prints we did a long time ago. It’s not the most exciting place to look at, but we get the work done. People come in and out to drop off projects or ask questions about how to use the programs. We aren't wearing suits or anything, just regular clothes because we’re here to work, not to impress anyone. The lighting is a bit bright so we can see the details on the plans. It’s a steady pace here, and we try to stay on top of the files that come in every morning. It’s nice being in a tower because we get a bit of a view of the street below when we look out the window. That's about it.
