S M L Motors is based on Pookkattupadi Road in the Edappally area of Cochin. If you know the P.O. office there, we aren't too far away. The shop is usually smelling like engine oil and old tires, which is just part of the job when you work with motors. Cochin can get really hot and humid, so we are usually sweating by noon while we work on the vehicles brought in. The road outside is always busy with people heading toward the city center, and the noise of the traffic never really stops. We have a small area where we keep the tools and another spot for the spare parts that we use the most. It’s not a polished showroom by any means. There are grease marks on the walls and the floor has its fair share of stains. We spend most of our time under hoods or looking at engines that have seen better days. Every now and then, a big monsoon rain comes down and we have to pull everything inside so it stays dry. We know the local drivers around Edappally pretty well because they stop by when something starts rattling. We just get our hands dirty and try to fix things so people can get back on the road. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy enough that the weeks go by pretty fast. We don't mind the mess.
