Out here at Nh-65 in Gazdari, Churu, things can get pretty dusty. R K Motors is located right on the highway, so we see a lot of travelers and local folks stopping in. The sun is usually beating down on the tin roof, making the workshop feel like an oven in the middle of the day. We have been operating from this spot for some time now, and we have seen the road change quite a bit over the years. Inside the garage, it is mostly the smell of old engine oil and rubber. We handle all sorts of vehicles, from small cars to the bigger trucks that rumble down the Nh-65. There is always a pile of old tires in the corner and a toolbox that never seems to stay organized no matter how many times I try to sort it out. We don't have a fancy waiting room with air conditioning; people usually just pull up a plastic chair or stand around and chat while we look under the hood. My brother and a couple of local boys help me out with the heavy lifting. We don't use a lot of big words or complicated explanations when someone asks what is wrong with their motor. We just show them the part that broke and get to fixing it. It’s hard work, especially in the Churu heat, but it’s what we do. By the time we close up and head home, we are usually exhausted but ready to do it again tomorrow morning.
