Navjeevan Clinic

Navjeevan Clinic is out in Bulasar, which is part of the Churu district. If you have ever been to this part of Rajasthan, you know it gets incredibly hot and the wind blows the sand around quite a bit. Our clinic is a simple structure on a dusty street. We spend a lot of time just trying to keep the grit off the chairs and the medical equipment. The front door is usually kept half-closed to keep the afternoon heat out, but anyone from the village knows they can just push it open and come inside. There is a small fan that wobbles on its stand, but it moves the air enough to make things bearable for everyone. We have a few cupboards where we keep the supplies, and they are all labeled with hand-written stickers that are starting to fade. The floor is made of smooth stone which stays nice and cool under your feet, which is a blessing in the summer months. Most of the folks who stop by are farmers or families from the nearby houses. We talk about the weather and the crops almost as much as we talk about health. It is a slow-paced kind of place, and we honestly like it that way. No one is in a huge hurry here. We just take our time, listen to what people have to say, and do what we can to help them out before they head back to their homes.
