Kamal Book Depot

We are located on New Road, right near the Kampa Petrol Pump. Being close to the pump is handy because people can just pull over and walk across to us. Kamal Book Depot has been around for a while in this district. The shop is basically one large room filled with metal racks. We don't have any air conditioning, so in the summer we just keep the big front shutters open and a ceiling fan going at full speed. It gets a bit noisy with the vehicles going by on New Road, but you get used to it after a few days. We handle a lot of government books and competitive exam materials because that’s what most people around here are looking for. There isn't much room for sitting down, so most people just stand and flip through the pages before they buy. We have a small counter where we wrap everything in brown paper and tie it with string if you need it. It’s a very basic setup. We don't use a lot of technology; most of our accounts are kept in a big ledger that sits under the counter. Sometimes the electricity goes out, and we have to use a flashlight to find the right titles on the back shelves. It’s just how things work here. We do our best to keep everything in stock so folks don't have to go all the way into the main city.
