J. M. J. Pharmachem

Our place is J. M. J. Pharmachem, located in Murarka Bhawan. We are very close to the old government hospital, which means there are always people around. The building itself has been here for a long time and has a lot of character. We have high ceilings and heavy doors. Inside, it’s mostly shelves filled with all kinds of pharmaceutical supplies. We get a lot of people coming over after they leave the hospital. They usually have a piece of paper from the doctor and they are looking for their meds so they can finally go home. We spend a lot of time reading handwriting and pulling bottles off the shelves. The light in the back of the shop is a bit flickery, so we mostly stay toward the front. There is a small counter where we handle the money and the prescriptions. We keep a ledger for the big accounts and use a basic calculator for the rest. It’s not a high-tech operation. We just try to be accurate and get things done. The traffic near the hospital can be a nightmare in the afternoons, so it gets pretty noisy with all the horns honking. We just keep our heads down and focus on the stock. When it gets dark, we tidy up the counter and get ready to do it all again. It’s a steady rhythm we’ve gotten used to.
