Jaiprakash Associates has a base at the Jp Industrial Estate in Churk, Sonbhadra. Churk is one of those places that has a long history with industry, and you can see that in the older buildings and the way the town is laid out. Being part of an industrial estate means we are surrounded by other workshops and plants. The weather in Sonbhadra can be really extreme, with the summers being incredibly hot and the winters getting quite chilly at night. We have a lot of space here to manage the different things we are involved in. It is not just one thing; we have various projects going on at any given time. The work is mostly about coordination and making sure the labor and materials are in the right place. It is a lot of logistics and talking to people on the ground. We don't have a polished front for show. The office is functional, with old filing cabinets and maps on the walls. Most of the guys here have grown up in this region and know the land well. We work long hours because that’s what the job requires. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here from the bigger cities, but we have everything we need on the estate. We just focus on the daily tasks and try to make sure the work keeps moving forward without any major hiccups.
