Shiv Building Materials

Shiv Building Materials is based in Village Jamui, right by the Chunar Kila. Being so close to the fort is nice, though we’re usually too busy with the shop to pay much attention to the tourists. Our post office is in Jamuhar Chunar, and we’re situated right in the heart of the Mirzapur district. We sell the kind of stuff you need if you’re building a wall or putting in a new floor. There’s always piles of gravel or sand sitting around our yard. The work is dirty and we’re often hauling heavy stuff around in the sun. It’s just the way it goes when you’re dealing with building supplies. We get a lot of farmers and local villagers coming by to pick up a few bags of cement at a time. Sometimes we have to deliver out to the more remote parts of the district, which can take a while on the local roads. We don’t have a big staff, just a couple of us who have been doing this for years. We know which materials work best for the local soil and weather. The shop has a small porch where we sit during the heat of the day to catch a bit of shade. It’s a quiet life for the most part, punctuated by the sound of trucks unloading. We keep the books manually and focus on just being reliable for the people. We don't really have any big plans to expand, we just want to keep things running.
