Banglasoda

We’ve been at this spot near the Sbs Zonal Office in Khargate for quite a while now. Most people around Darbargadh know where we are because of the sign, though it’s seen better days. Dealing with soda isn't complicated, but it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. The shop isn't fancy. There are crates stacked up and the floor gets a bit sticky when things are moving fast. We spend a lot of our time just making sure the bottles are clean and the gas is right. It’s a lot of manual labor, really. Sometimes the delivery trucks have trouble getting through the narrow parts of the street, but we manage to make it work every single day. My cousin helps out when he can, and we usually have the radio playing some old songs in the background. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going at full speed. People come in thirsty and leave with something cold. That’s pretty much the whole story. We don't have a fancy office or anything like that. Just some chairs, a desk that’s been here since the start, and lots of soda. Life in this part of town is noisy and crowded, but it feels like home to us. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing, one bottle at a time, without making much of a fuss about it.
