Prathve Granite Llp is over at Plot Number 10 in Pratap Nagar, Chittorgarh. If you’ve ever been to this part of India, you know stone is everywhere. We deal with granite, which is heavy and cold to the touch when we start in the morning. Our yard isn’t exactly pretty. It’s full of large slabs and the constant sound of cutting blades. The dust is something you just learn to live with. We wear old clothes because everything gets ruined by the grit anyway. We aren't some polished corporate office with air conditioning in every room. Usually, the windows are just kept open to let the air move through the building. Working with granite takes a lot of patience. You can’t rush it or the stone might crack in the wrong place and waste the whole piece. We spend a lot of time just moving things around with the crane. It’s a slow process. Most of our guys have been doing this for years, so they know the sound of the machines better than anything else. When the sun goes down, the yard finally gets quiet. We aren't trying to sell anyone a dream. We just provide the granite that people need for their floors or counters. It’s honest work that leaves you tired at the end of the shift. We like it that way. Pratap Nagar is a busy area, but once you’re inside the gates, it’s just us and the stone.
