Red Ochre is situated at number 45 in Basant Nagar. It’s a residential neighborhood, so it’s much quieter than being in the middle of the city. Our building looks more like a house than a traditional office, which we actually prefer. There’s a small garden out front that we try to keep alive, though the heat makes it difficult sometimes. Inside, we’ve set up our workspaces in the different rooms. It’s a bit of a maze with all the books and samples we have lying around. We don't have a big corporate sign outside, just a small plate near the gate. Working from Basant Nagar means we can actually hear the birds in the morning instead of just traffic. Most of our day is spent at our desks, working on projects and talking through ideas. We usually have the windows open to let some air in, though we have to close them when the neighbor's dog starts barking too much. It’s a very relaxed atmosphere. We don't follow a strict dress code or have formal meetings every hour. We just talk across the hallway when we need to ask a question. Sometimes we walk down the street to the local corner shop to get snacks in the afternoon. It’s a comfortable place to work, and it feels more like a community than a cold business office.
