Sri Ramakrishna General Stores

If you are traveling down the Main Road in Bandlaicheruvu, you will find Sri Ramakrishna General Stores. It’s a central spot in the village where people gather to get their supplies and sometimes just to chat. We’ve been operating this store for a long time, passing the work down through the family. We sell everything from cooking oil to school notebooks for the kids. The shelves are made of old wood and they creak a bit, but they hold a lot. We don’t have a specific house number, just Main Road, because everyone knows where we are. It gets very busy in the evenings when people are done with their work in the fields. I usually have a helper to help me weigh the grains and pack the bags. We use old-fashioned scales for some things because they still work fine. The heat can be tough in the summer, so we keep the big doors wide open to catch any breeze. We don't have a computer or any internet stuff here. We write everything down in big ledgers. It’s the way we’ve always done it. Sometimes we run out of something popular, and people have to wait until the next truck comes from the city. They don't mind much; they know we’re doing our best. It’s a steady life here in Bandlaicheruvu. We aren't looking to change much, just keeping the store running for the village neighbors.
