You can find Raam Kumar Tex at 2/35-A on Raja Street in Nagari. It’s a small operation, mostly just a few of us working with textiles. We’ve been on this street for quite a while now and everyone around knows us. The building is a simple one-story place with a metal roof. When it rains, it gets really loud inside, so we usually have to stop talking for a bit. We spend most of our time at the looms or checking the quality of the cloth. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we find it peaceful in a way. We don't have any big signs or advertisements outside. Just the address on the door. We sell our cloth to people who use it for all sorts of things. We try to make sure the weave is tight and there aren't any snags in the thread. Sometimes the thread breaks and we have to re-thread the whole machine, which takes a while. We aren't trying to be a huge corporation. We just want to make a decent product and earn a living. The tea stall down the road is where we usually go for a break. It’s a quiet life here in Nagari and we like it that way. We just keep our machines running and do the best we can with what we have.
