Quantity Surveyor

I’m based out of Bandarola Palli, near the K.R. Palli post office in Piler. My father is V. Raja Reddy, and we’ve been in this part of Chittoor district for a long time. I work as a quantity surveyor from our family home. It’s a rural setting, quite different from the big city offices, but the work is the same. I take the drawings for new buildings and figure out exactly what they need in terms of materials and labor. It is a quiet life here. I usually work at a small wooden desk by the window. The light is good in the mornings. People from the surrounding villages come to me when they want to build a house or a shop. They need to know if they have enough money for it. I try to be very careful with my estimates. If I say a job needs fifty bags of cement, I want to be right. It’s not a fancy operation. I have my laptop and some notebooks. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow, so I have to be patient. I enjoy the peace here; it helps me focus on the calculations without too many distractions. There isn't a big staff, just me doing the measurements. It’s an honest way to help the local community build things the right way without wasting their savings. That is basically what we do every day without fail.
