Living and farming around the Horsley Hills area means you get used to the ups and downs of the land. Our company, Horsley Hills Farmers Producer Company Limited, is run out of B. Kothakota. You have to look for the place belonging to P. Ramana Reddy’s son in Kummarapallebayappagaripalle. It’s a long name for a small village, I know. We mostly deal with the challenges of farming on this terrain. It’s beautiful here, but the soil and water can be stubborn. A few years ago, we decided that trying to sell our stuff individually wasn't working out for any of us. Now we meet up at the house and figure out how to share the costs of things like transport. It’s very informal. We sit on the porch or in the front room and go over the numbers. Sometimes we get distracted talking about local news or family stuff, but that’s just how it goes when you’ve known everyone your whole life. We don’t have a fancy website or a marketing department. It’s just us trying to make the most of what we have. We hope that by staying together, we can make farming a bit more stable for everyone in the village.
