Govindarajaswamy Ceramics

If you walk down R.C. Road, you will find Govindarajaswamy Ceramics at 19-7-99/B2. We have a shop that is mostly filled with stacks of tiles and ceramic pieces. It is a bit of a maze inside because we try to fit as much as we can into the space. We have been here for a good while, and the shop has that old smell of clay and cardboard boxes. Every morning we sweep the front and try to arrange the display pieces so people can see the patterns. Ceramics can be fragile, so we have to be very careful when we are moving boxes around. We have definitely broken a few things over the years, which is always a bit frustrating. Customers come in with all sorts of questions about bathroom floors or kitchen walls. We do not have any fancy computer systems to show them designs; we just pull out the physical tiles and lay them on the floor. It is a lot of bending and lifting. R.C. Road is a busy street, so we get a lot of people just peeking in while they are passing by. We are just regular people running a shop. Sometimes we forget to turn the sign around, or the light in the back flickers, but we are always there to help someone find a replacement tile. It is a steady business, and we like being part of the street life here. We usually close up when the sun goes down and head home. It has been a long time since we started here.
