Anusha Fashion Fabrics

We are located at No. 5-132 on S. V Koil Street in Pudupet Nagari. Being so close to the temple means we hear the bells and the prayers every day, which is a nice backdrop to the work. The street is usually full of people and small shops selling all sorts of things. We keep Anusha Fashion Fabrics at this spot, and we have rolls of fabric stacked everywhere inside, from the floor right up to the rafters. It’s a narrow building, so we have to be careful how we move around so we don't knock anything over. The air is often filled with bits of lint and the smell of new cotton. We get a lot of local people coming in just to see what’s new or to ask for a specific color they need for a celebration. We don't have a computer system or anything like that; we just write everything down in a big ledger we keep on the main counter. The counter itself is made of old wood that’s been polished smooth by all the fabric we’ve slid across it over the years. When the sun gets low, it shines right through the front door and hits all the different colors on the shelves. It’s a simple shop, and we like the rhythm of the neighborhood. We just take it one customer at a time and keep the shelves full.
