Prakash Coffee Works

Prakash Coffee Works has been a fixture on Vijayalakshmi Road in Mandipet for as long as I can remember. The street is one of those old-fashioned market roads where shops are packed tight together and everyone is trying to sell something. Our place is usually filled with the heavy scent of roasted beans which is a lot better than the smell of the street outside. We have these old grinders that have been working for years and they make a specific kind of roar that tells everyone we are open for the day. Mandipet is a place where people still like to come and see what they are buying in person instead of ordering things online. We spend a lot of time weighing out bags and talking to folks who have been coming to us for decades. There is no air conditioning here just the ceiling fans spinning away to keep the air moving while we work. The wooden counters are worn smooth from years of use and we do not see any reason to change them now. It is a local business through and through and we know most of our customers by their names or at least by what they usually buy. Sometimes it gets a bit messy with the coffee dust but that is just part of the trade. We just keep roasting and grinding and keeping the tradition going in our own small way.
