This is Nirman Engineers And Contractors, and we are based out of Chithavalli Village in the Kelaguru area of Chikmagalur. It’s a bit different from those big city offices you see in the movies. Arun Kumar C N, the son of Nagappa Gowda, runs things here, and we’ve kept it going in this district for years. Working in a place like this means you know everyone and everyone knows you. We don't have a paved parking lot or a receptionist; you just come by the house or the work shed and find us. The hills here are beautiful but they make construction and engineering work a bit of a challenge sometimes, especially when moving heavy machinery through the narrow roads. We spend a lot of time traveling between different villages to check on walls, roads, or small buildings we are putting up. It’s a quiet life compared to a place like Bangalore. We use what we have and we try to do a solid job so that the structures last through the heavy rains we get in this part of the country. It’s not just about the business; it’s about being part of the community here in Chithavalli. We deal with the local labor and use local materials as much as possible. Most of our days are spent outdoors, and the office work is just something we do in the evenings to keep the accounts straight. It’s a simple way of living and working, but it is what we know. We are just regular people building things for our neighbors.
