Arjumand Stone

If you walk down Shahabad Road toward Rama Mohalla, you’ll find Arjumand Stone. It’s a dusty place, mostly because stone work creates a lot of grit no matter how much you spray it down. We’ve been here in Shahabad for years. My family started this because there was always a need for good solid material for building houses and walls. We have blocks of stone sitting out in the yard, some of them are huge and need the crane to move even an inch. It’s heavy work, and your back definitely feels it by the end of the week. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to make sure the stone we cut is straight and that it gets delivered to the site without cracking. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to work outside, especially when the monsoon rains turn the yard into a mess of mud and slick rock. But we keep at it. The neighborhood knows us, and we know them. We don’t have a website or anything like that, mostly we just talk to people face to face when they stop by the gate. The saws are loud and they run most of the afternoon. It’s a simple life, cutting rock and seeing it go off to become part of someone’s new home or a sturdy floor. We take pride in the grit and the sweat that goes into every piece we finish.
