P L Sonkar & Company is situated in Taluka Khadga, which is part of the Koriya district. We are right near Bada Bazar, so it's a very busy part of town especially on market days. Our family has been doing business here for a long time. It’s a simple setup, nothing like what you see in the big cities. We have a small shopfront where we meet people and a back area for storing our materials. Living and working in Koriya means everyone knows everyone else. We don't need a lot of signs or advertising because word of mouth is how most people find us. The atmosphere around Bada Bazar is always lively with people buying and selling all sorts of things. We open up early in the morning and stay until the sun goes down. Sometimes we sit outside on a bench and talk to the neighbors while waiting for customers. Our work involves a lot of manual record-keeping and talking to folks face-to-face. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just prefer doing things the old-fashioned way. If you come by, you'll see us handling the day's tasks with whatever tools we have. It’s a quiet life in some ways, but we stay busy enough. We just try to be helpful to the people in our community and keep the business going for the next generation. That's the way we've always operated.
