We run Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Farmer Producer Company Limited out of Chirgaon. Our base is at Khajhanchi Ka Dera, staying with Harishankar Rajpoot. It’s a local setup for the farmers around here. We named it after the deity because faith is a big part of our lives in this region. The daily grind involves a lot of talking to neighbors and figuring out who has what for the season. We don't have any professional writers or marketing people here. It’s just us, the same people you see at the market or in the village square. Working in Chirgaon has its ups and downs, but we like being our own bosses. The company is just a way for us to pool our resources together so we can get better deals on things like seeds or equipment. Sometimes we meet under the big tree to discuss the plans, and other times we’re stuck inside doing the necessary filing. It’s not always pretty, and we definitely make mistakes now and then, but we’re learning as we go. We don't pretend to be some high-flying corporation. We are just farmers who decided to organize a bit better. If you ever find yourself at Khajhanchi Ka Dera, you’ll likely see us sorting through something or other. It’s just the life we live, and we’re alright with that. It’s local, it’s ours, and it keeps us busy through the year.
