Kanakdurga Beltings

Down in Srinivasa Nagar, near the Perala Post, you’ll find our place, Kanakdurga Beltings. Looking for the building with the stacks of rubber and industrial belts outside is the easiest way to find us at D.NO.7-13-8/2. It’s a bit of a cramped space inside because the rolls of belting take up a lot of room. Measuring out lengths, cutting them to size, and getting them ready for delivery takes up most of the day. The smell of the material is quite strong, something you just get used to after a week or so. Ceiling fans that hum all day long are the only thing keeping the air moving. Walls are lined with different types of belts for all kinds of machines. Dust is usually all over the floor from the cutting process, so we’re always kicking it out the door. It’s mostly manual work here. Marketing isn't something we have a department for. Talking to the local farmers and factory owners who need parts for their equipment is how we get business. Sometimes we sit outside on plastic chairs during the lunch break to get some fresh air. The work is repetitive, but it’s important for the local machinery to keep running. Focusing on making sure the edges are straight and the material is sturdy before it leaves the shop is our main job.
