B.K.L. Walawalkar Hospital

Our hospital is located in Savarda, which is in the Chiplun Taluka of the Ratnagiri district. It’s a bit of a drive for some, but we are a main health center for this whole rural area. Being in Ratnagiri, we see a lot of people coming in from the nearby villages. The hospital is a fairly large place because we have to handle everything from emergencies to regular surgeries. We’ve got different departments and wards to keep track of. It stays very busy most of the time. The staff here is mostly people from the surrounding region. We have been part of the Savarda community for quite a while now. It’s not a city hospital with glass walls, it’s a practical building built for the people here. We see a lot of different cases every day. Sometimes the rains make it a bit tough for people to travel to us, but we stay open regardless. We have basic facilities for people to stay while they get better. It’s a lot of work keeping a hospital this size running in a place like Chiplun, but we manage. We aren't part of some giant corporation. We’re just a local hospital trying to take care of the folks in this district. There’s always something going on in the hallways. We just keep our heads down and do the work that’s needed for every person who walks in looking for help.
