Archana Granites

If you go near the bus stop in Gurjapally, you will find our yard. It’s a convenient place for us because everyone knows the bus stop, so we never have to give complicated directions. We deal with granite mostly, and we have a lot of it stacked up along the fence. The ground is mostly gravel and dirt, which gets a bit muddy when it rains, but we have some planks laid out so people can walk around easily. We’ve been here for a while now and we know most of the people who live in the neighborhood. It’s a simple setup—a small gate, a basic office, and lots of stone. We don't have a big staff, so if you come by, you’ll probably see me or one of my family members out there working. We spend a lot of time checking the slabs for cracks and making sure the cuts are straight. It’s not a glamorous job, but there's a certain satisfaction in seeing a nice piece of granite go out to a new home. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy office. We just want to get the work done and make sure we have enough stock for the next person who comes by. It’s a steady way to make a living and the area around the bus stop is always full of people, so it never feels lonely at the yard during the day.
