Sultan Fabricators

Down here in Kognoli, things move at their own pace. Sultan Fabricators is located at 79/488/25, which is a bit of a mouthful for an address, but locals in Chikodi know where we are. The shop is basically a big open space where we keep all the metal and the welding equipment. It’s not very organized, to be honest. There are piles of iron rods in one corner and some finished frames waiting to be picked up in the other. When the wind blows through the open doors, it brings in a lot of dust from the road, so we spend a lot of time just wiping things down before we can even start working. We don't have any fancy signs or a big reception area. If someone wants something, they just walk in and talk to whoever isn't wearing a welding mask at the moment. Most of the time, the radio is playing somewhere in the back, but you can barely hear it over the grinding sounds. It’s loud, it’s dirty, and the tea we get from the shop down the lane is usually too sweet, but it’s how we spend our days. We've been at this for a long time now, so the routine is pretty set. We open up early when it's still cool outside and work until the light fades. That's just how the days go here. Anyway, it’s a living and we like the work well enough.
