Padmanadha Rice Mill

Padmanadha Rice Mill is located out in Garthikeri, which is part of the Thirthahalli-Taluk area. It is a beautiful part of the district, with lots of green and a bit more rain than we sometimes want. Our mill is a simple building where we’ve worked for quite a long time. We handle the paddy from the nearby fields, and the sound of the huller is something we hear in our sleep. It is not an easy life, as the work depends a lot on the seasons and how the crops are doing. When the harvest is good, we are working late into the night. When it’s slow, we spend our time maintaining the equipment and cleaning up. We are just a few people here, mostly family and a few helpers from the village. We don't have any big offices or fancy clothes. You’ll usually find us covered in a bit of dust and just trying to get the next batch ready. We know the farmers around Thirthahalli well, and they know they can just come by and talk to us. It’s a very local way of doing things. We don’t really worry about what big companies are doing. We just focus on our machines and the rice. That’s enough to keep us busy every single day. We just hope the next harvest is as good as the last one.
