Surya Granite

Our business, Surya Granite, is located near the Kudikonda Chet Post on N.H.-7 in the Anantpur district. Since we are right on the highway, we get a lot of wind and dust coming off the road. It’s a hot part of the country, and the sun beats down on the granite slabs all day long. We have a big open area where we keep the stone. Most of what we do involves loading and unloading trucks that come in from the quarries. It is heavy, tiring work, especially when the temperature goes up. We don't have many frills here. There is a small shed where we keep the records and a place to sit out of the sun for a few minutes. When people stop their cars or trucks to look at the granite, we walk out and show them the different colors we have. Some pieces are rough and some are polished, depending on what the customer is looking for. We don't use any fancy marketing tricks. We just tell them the price and let them look at the stone themselves. The check post nearby means there are always vehicles idling or passing by, so the background noise is constant. We’ve been here at this spot on N.H.-7 for a good while. It’s a simple life, working with the earth and the stone, and we just keep at it every day regardless of the weather.
