Dhanventh Cooking Oil

Our spot is at 55 Palakkad Main Road in Kuniamuthur. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there is always the sound of horns and buses passing by. We deal with cooking oil, so the shop always has that faint scent of oil in the air. We keep the large tins stacked near the back. Dealing with the public means you meet all sorts of people every day. Some are in a hurry, others want to stay and talk about the price of goods. We don't have a lot of space, so things can get a bit cramped when several people come in at once. We use a simple scale for weighing, and sometimes it needs a bit of a tap to get it balanced right. It’s an old-school way of doing things, but it hasn't let us down yet. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we haven't found the time between deliveries. We started this small and it stayed small, which is fine by us. My son helps out in the evenings after his college classes. We mostly just focus on making sure we don't run out of stock. It’s hard work, especially with the heat from the road, but it’s our living. We don't make big promises, we just sell what we have and try to be fair about it. It keeps us occupied from morning until we close the shutters for the night.
