Nokia Care

Being located near Axis Bank in Chickmagalur, right by Rajpura Khurd, keeps us fairly busy throughout the week. This spot near Pisces Garden and Chatterpur gets a lot of foot traffic, so people are always dropping in with their phones. Most of the time, it’s a cracked screen or a battery that won’t hold a charge anymore. We sit behind the counter with our screwdrivers and small parts, trying to get things back in working order. The back room is full of boxes and old components that we keep for spares. It’s not a quiet job because there is always a phone ringing or someone asking how much longer their repair will take. We see all sorts of people, from students who dropped their mobiles to older folks who aren’t quite sure why their apps stopped working. The light in the shop is bright so we can see the tiny screws, and it can get a bit cramped when three or four customers are waiting at once. We usually have the radio playing softly in the background just to break the silence when we are concentrating on a tricky circuit board. Sometimes the parts we need are out of stock and we have to tell people to come back in a couple of days, which is never fun. We just stay focused on the benches and keep the tools moving.
