Out here in Village Khanhiwada, things move a bit slower than they do in Seoni town. We are based in the Post Amgaon area, specifically in the Tehsil Seoni district. Our place is mostly full of heavy metal and various spare parts that get greasy and cold in the winter. We spend our days moving steel around and making sure we have what the local guys need for their machines. It is hard work on the back and the hands, but we don't mind it. The shop is a bit cluttered because we have so many different bits and pieces tucked away in the corners. You can usually find us with dirt under our fingernails, trying to find a specific bolt or a piece of steel for a repair. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just rely on people knowing we are here in the village. The Dist. Seoni landscape is beautiful, but we are usually too busy looking at inventory to notice much. In the afternoons, the sun hits the metal and makes the whole place heat up, so we take our breaks in the shade of the big tree out front. We aren't trying to be the biggest outfit in the state, just a reliable place where the neighbors can come when something breaks. It’s a practical life, filled with the smell of iron and the sound of heavy trucks pulling into the yard. We hope to stay here doing this for a long time.
