The yard is out on Chand Road in Bhanadehi. If you’ve ever driven past, you probably saw the piles of rock and the dust in the air. That’s where we spend our days. It isn’t the kind of job where you wear a suit. We deal with stone all day, every day. My brother and I took over the place a few years back, and it’s been a lot of work keeping the machinery running. The crushers are old but they still do the job if you treat them right. People around here know us for the gravel we produce for the local roads. We don’t really do any fancy advertising or anything like that. Most of the folks who come here are regulars who have been buying from us for a long time. It gets loud when the machines are going, so we don't talk much during the shift. You just get used to the noise after a while. Bhanadehi is a decent place to work, even if it’s a bit out of the way for some. We try to keep the trucks moving so nobody is waiting too long. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when the rain turns the ground into a big mess of mud. We just wait it out and get back to it when the sun comes out. It’s a simple life, really. We just focus on the stone and making sure we have enough stock for the next morning. It’s mostly just us and the machines out here.
